RSAA Bylaw Vote is Now Closed
More than 95% percent of RSAA receptive tour operator members voted in favor of the proposed bylaw change, which would allow Board members to be elected to 2 consecutive terms. The RSAA Board of Directors will formally approve the results of the vote during their May conference call.

Conference Call Focusing on the Emerging Markets of Southeast Asia
The RSAA/ U.S. Commercial Service conference call focusing on the emerging markets of the ASEAN region was held May 8. Presentations were delivered on Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam, while supplementary materials were provided on Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.

RSAA Board of Directors Announces Bylaw Vote
On April 1, regular (receptive tour operator) members of RSAA were notified that a bylaw vote will commence on May 1. The proposed bylaw change would allow current and future Board members to serve 2 consecutive 2 year terms on the Board of Directors. Currently, the bylaws permit Board members to serve 1 2 year term only.

To be adopted, the change in the bylaw language must be approved by a 2/3 vote of RSAA regular members.

RSAA Board of Directors Develops Receptive Operator Definition
The RSAA Board of Directors created a definition of receptive tour operator to use to explain the role and function of receptive tour operators in the U.S. travel industry.

The definition is as follows:
Receptive Tour Operators are defined as United States-based companies which specialize in creating, marketing, and selling United States travel products to International Inbound travelers. Receptive Tour Operators have unique knowledge of the countries they serve and of the destinations they sell.  A Tour Operator shall be considered a Receptive when the majority of its revenue is derived from Inbound International travelers to the United States.

Zuk, Bayliss Elected to U.S. Travel Association Board of Directors
The U.S. Travel Association announced that Jonathan Zuk of Amadeo Travel Solutions and Sean Bayliss of GTA were elected to the USTA Board of Directors.

Zuk and Bayliss will be serving two-year terms beginning in April.

Zuk is the Chairman of the Board of the Receptive Services Association and also serves on the Travel and Tourism Advisory Board (TTAB). Bayliss is a receptive tour operator member of the RSAA Board and has more than 25 years’ senior management and leadership experience in the travel industry.
